More Americans are searching for info on “How to Move Out of the US”
With the coronavirus pandemic, large-scale protests and a record heat wave, people in the US have a lot on their plates. That might be why the International Living blog has seen a 500% increase in traffic to its articles on how to move out of the US.
Many Americans Feel Uncertain About the Future
“Americans are looking to escape. First, there’s the uncertainty surrounding the election, which drives people to consider a ‘Plan B’ should their preferred candidate lose. We saw this same trend in 2016, though to a lesser degree,” Jennifer Stevens, executive editor of International Living magazine said in a press release.
“This year, the pandemic has created huge financial challenges for millions of people whose jobs have evaporated,” Stevens said. “Worried about staying afloat in the US, it stands to reason they’re looking for places abroad where their dollars will stretch further.”
Top Countries of Interest
They’re also targeting certain countries. The blog said it’s seen a spike of more than 700% in searches about Belize, Costa Rica, Spain, Mexico and Italy.
Belize has long been a favorite destination for retirees and expatriates. There are roughly 20,000 expatriates from the US, UK and other countries living in Belize.
Belize Remains a Favorite for Good Reasons
If you’re looking for a new country to call home, there are many good reasons to consider Belize.
Laid-back lifestyle: Belize is the perfect destination for anyone who wants a stress-free life. The wide open spaces, small population and warm, friendly people add up to a great lifestyle. You won’t have long commutes, traffic jams, crowded streets, bad weather or other sources of stress.
Low cost of living:: Your lifestyle in Belize would cost a lot more in other countries. Property prices are low, and foreigners pay no estate taxes. Your home will cost about half what an equivalent home in the US, UK or Canada would cost.
Recreation opportunities: Belize has many recreation opportunities. The national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are ideal for hiking, canoeing and waterfall swimming. Belize has gorgeous scenery that includes mountains, jungles and pine forests. The ocean waters near Belize offer world-class snorkeling, fishing and scuba diving.
Culture and history: Belize has cultural diversity and a fascinating history. You can visit Maya ruins one day and learn Garifuna drumming the next. Food in Belize is affordable, fresh and delicious.
