Planning Your Trip

While there is no “off-season” for diving into Belize’s gorgeous waters, the green season between June and November can sometimes but not always affect the visibility of the water. Note that you can expect to deal with warmer temperatures between August and October, mostly due to the humidity, and a few hours fewer to explore the waters.

What You Can See

While the waters off the coastline and cayes are full of sea life, the creatures you may encounter are dependent upon the season. Sharks, stingrays, dolphins and sea horses can be encountered throughout the year. Whale sharks can be encountered between the months of March and July, though April through June is the best time to see them. While there is always a change to see manatees, especially in the country’s rivers, the best chance to find them is between June and September. Sea turtles are in a similar situation as manatees in that there is always a chance to see them but your best chances are between the months of May and September. Nurse sharks are especially notable in regard to Ambergris Caye and they can be very curious but non-aggressive around humans.

If this sounds even slightly appealing as an activity during a vacation or two, imagine how amazing it is to have access to diving trips every weekend by becoming a local. It just so happens that Salt Life Belize is one of the best places you can pick when buying property in Ambergris Caye.
